BARRY war ein irischer Maler, der besonders für seine sechsteilige Gemäldeserie The Progress of Human Culture in der Royal Society of Arts in London bekannt ist. BARRY gilt als einer der frühesten Romantiker in Großbritannien, weil er seine Werke nach seinen eigenen Vorstellungen und nicht nach denen seiner Auftraggeber schuf. Er hat William BLAKE sehr beeinflusst. ■
